Ocimene: What the Research Says (and Doesn’t)

Ocimene is a sweet, green, tropical-leaning terpene — and the honest summary of its research file is that there barely is one. We publish this page anyway, because saying “we don’t know” clearly is part of being trustworthy.

What researchers have examined

Ocimene appears in plant-chemistry literature as a component of mint, basil, orchids, and many fruits, and in a handful of essential-oil screening studies. There is no meaningful body of research on ocimene and human experience.

Open questions

Essentially all of them. Ocimene is a good reminder that terpene shopping today is about aroma and preference, not proven outcomes.
